During the legislative elections, the left came out on top in almost all the cantons of Nîmes. To nourish hopes according to Nicolas Pellegrini (LFI).
The good results of the left in the Nîmes cantons during the legislative elections of June 30 and July 7 may have fueled the optimism of the socialists, environmentalists, left-wing radicals, communists and rebels of the city with a view to the next municipal elections in 2026. Questioned on this subject, Nicolas Pellegrini, co-leader of La France Insoumise in Nîmes, recognizes that these good results can fuel ambitions “even if I remember that in the Gard the National Rally won six out of six constituencies.”
But he also noted that when the left is united, it wins! Which was also said by Alain Clary, former communist mayor of Nîmes, to Manuel Bompard, national figure of LFI, last Friday, during his visit to Pissevin. “Since the formation of Nupes, we have been working together. We rub shoulders, we even like each other. With the New Popular Front, our solutions are effective and appeal to voters.” Who can then embody this union of the left in the near future in Nîmes?
Programme municipal
Legitimacy would go to Vincent Bouget, the first federal member of the French Communist Party in Gard, who holds his position as an opponent in the municipal council and the Agglo. “The results in Nîmes give hope to the left. The left is in the majority in Nîmes”indicates this Wednesday Denis Lanoy, secretary of the Nîmes section of the PCF.
Nicolas Pellegrini nevertheless believes that this united Nîmes left will only find its incarnation after the development of a municipal program for 2026: “It’s like at the national level. We have to work on the rupture program and it’s at the end of that that personalities will emerge. During the demonstrations of the New Popular Front, we saw a lot of young people, new living forces. There is a renewal.” L’Insoumis welcomes the arrival of new faces for the municipal elections.
